A hotel fire kills 7 in Tarapith Town

A Local source told the Global News Desk 115 on Monday that a blaze at a hotel near the Tarapith temple in Birbhum district killed at least 7 devotees and left many others wounded. The blaze broke out at dawn on the ground floor of the hotel in the temple town of Tarapith, when the rest of the devotees were sleeping. Firefighters put out the blaze as soon as they reached the  scene.  The  injured were quickly taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The medical hospital preliminarily informed that five worshipers had lost their lives in the fire incident. However, the police finally confirmed the 7 deaths.  The hotel manager asserted that a short circuit triggered the deadly blaze.

Hungary Bus Crash: 12 Dead, Several Wounded

August, 16 - (The Global News Desk 115) –  A tourist bus crashed in Hungary  after it veered off the main road and plunged into a  ravine,  bringing  about 12 deaths and injuring several others. A dozen tourists lost their lives, and many more were wounded after a bus crashed on a motorway in Hungary on Sunday. Police preliminary report revealed that as soon as the driver fell asleep, the bus crashed into a ditch. The same source reported that a Polish tourists' bus was heading east near Mezokeresztes when it went out of control on the M3 motorway, about 140 kilometers east of Budapest, Hungary's capital, at about 1 a.m. on Sunday.  The Disaster Management Service of Hungary said that in the rescue operation, 35 people were saved. Strong Earthquake Kills Dozens In Indonesia

August, 16 - (The Global News Desk 115) – BNPB reported in its fresh statement that at least 47 people were killed after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake and several strong jolts rattled eastern Indonesia yesterday. Rescue teams faced difficulties reaching Nagekeo, the area nearest to the epicenter, due to landslides and earthquake devastation that cracked roads, destroyed communication systems, and damaged houses, officials said. A person living in Talibura village said, "The quake was really horrifying, and the shock was so solid." "There were more than a dozen of our family in the house, and we all left the residence very quickly to save lives." Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency reported the first earthquake felt at 4:59 AM local time on Saturday, with a depth of 9 miles in the Flores area. Seven Killed, 3 Trapped In Landslide Incident

August, 16 - (The Global News Desk 115) – The provincial government authorities informed the media on Friday that as many as 7 laborers were killed in a tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand province in the northern part of India.   The rescue operation for 3 missing workers is still continuing, the provincial government said in a statement. The landslide occurred at midnight, causing a rush of water and rubble into a tunnel under construction by Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC) in Pipalkoti. The government officials reported that there were 22 workers in the tunnel when the disaster occurred. The deadly incident took place in the Chamoli district. Wounded workers were transported to the hospital for speedy recovery.  The provincial CM visited the site of the incident on Friday and examined the rescue team's efforts.

Road Accident Costs 18 Lives

At least 18 people were killed, including children August, 13 - (The Global News Desk 115) -  At least 18 workers were killed in a deadly accident on a connecting road in Al-Dawawis, Ismailia province, on Tuesday morning, August 11.  Two mini trucks, which were conveying agricultural workers, were involved in the accident. A hospital chief told newspapers, "The majority of those who died were youngsters".  The youngest victim was about 11 or 10  years old.  At least 1.3 million children in Egypt are doing child labor because of poverty, and a large number of youngsters are not completing high school in backward areas.  Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi ordered an investigation into the deadly accident. The initial reports revealed that the accident took place due to overspeeding.  

44 Dead As Boat Capsizes

August, 12 - (The Global News Desk 115)- Local authorities reported that at least 44 people sank after an  overcrowded   boat   capsized in Zimbabwe.  The heart-wrenching accident happened on the world's largest artificial lake, Kariba, in Zimbabwe on Tuesday.  The boat was manufactured for 90 people, but it had more than 112 passengers, five crew members, and an unknown number of children, CPUearlier broke the news on Wednesday, based on ticket sales. One of the eyewitnesses informed the foreign media outlets that 153 people were on the boat when it turned over on Tuesday after being trapped in massive waves. 44 corpses were retrieved from the lake. The police updated the death toll on Wednesday evening through X, a social media platform.

Deadly Clash Killed 7 Americans

August, 12 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Seven US Navy crew members have reportedly been killed, and several others injured in a deadly brawl on the USS Abraham Lincoln.  The incident occurred while the crew of the Abraham Lincoln was experiencing heightened pressure. The incident began when an adviser to Brad Cooper, the chief of US Central Command (CENTCOM), boarded the carrier to address increasing criticism by crew members after their families demonstrated the ship's extended deployment.  According to TNA, the adviser faced boos and had water bottles hurled at him while he was addressing a crowd of employees.   The clash escalated into a deadly fight among the crew, with knives and other sharp objects involved.  The Iranian media source claimed that 7 crew members were killed and several more sustained injuries. Factory Fire Kills 16 Workers

August, 12 - (The Global News Desk 115) -  16 workers were killed in a fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in KSA on Monday. A deadly blaze started at the sofa factory located in the Musa Industrial Area, Al-Shifa district of Riyadh, KSA, around 2:00 PM local time on Sunday. Local media outlets said that all the victims were Bangladeshi Nationals.  Bangladesh's Foreign Minister expressed heartfelt sorrow over the tragic losses of innocent workers in Saudi Arabia. He further stated that losses are extremely disappointing The Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia kept "constant communication" with local authorities, according to Dhaka's Expatriates' Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury. Further, he said that officials are told to ensure the fast return of the bodies of the deceased expatriates and to receive necessary government support and compensation for their families.  

Chopper Crash: 4 Killed In Brazil

August, 09 - (The Global News Desk 115) -  . A helicopter meant for tourists, packed with a pilot and three Colombian women, plummeted in a forest today. . A helicopter crashed in a forest in Rio de Janeiro at around 11: 11 A.M local time.  Today, Brazilian authorities announced that 3 of the victims were women from Colombia, all part of the same family. Early reports suggest that one of the tourists was taking pictures over Tijuca National Park when the helicopter crashed into a steep, heavily wooded area. This made it very difficult for firefighters and other rescue teams to reach the location and rescue victims.  Firefighters and other rescue teams leaped into action as soon as they received a phone call at 11:30 A.M Saturday.  The helicopter blew up right after hitting the ground, causing a fire that was put out. At the site, rescue teams found that all four tourists' corpses were burned completely.     . 

Tanker Crash Kills 20

August, 09 - (The Global News Desk 115) - About people were killed, and several others received injuries on Friday night when a  20-wheeler diesel tanker overturned in the Bangui region. Bangui is the largest city and the capital of the Central African Republic. The initial report by eyewitnesses said that the driver, who was driving very fast, lost control of the truck loaded with diesel, leading to a deadly accident. Local authorities have not confirmed the final death toll yet, but the Provisional Government says the toll is 20. Furthermore, scores of others injured were transported to Bangui hospital for treatment.

Thailand Shooting: 7 Killed, 30 Injured

August 07 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Police reported that on Friday, a boy shot and killed seven people, including his grandparents, at a school near Bangkok before taking his own life. The teen assailant killed teachers and staff members. According to the government, the 14-year-old shooter used a gun that was his grandfather's.  Classes at Debsirin Secondary were canceled from August 10 to August 14, and teachers were asked to work from home during that time.  After the heart-wrenching school tragedy that brought about several deaths, Thailand's prime minister vowed to introduce a bill that would make it difficult for people to carry guns.

Indian companies have sent at least 390,516 parts for small arms used in military-grade weapons, 564,871 explosive ordnance items such as drone warheads and artillery shell casings, and 291 military vehicle parts to major Israeli companies that supply the Israeli military directly. 8 more Palestinians martyred in Gaza

August 03 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Palestinian medical sources reported that Israeli soldiers martyred 8 Palestinians, including women and children, regardless of the Gaza peace accord. Gaza's media reporters reported on Sunday that 3 Gazans were martyred by Israeli fire. A deadly scene was set in motion when an Israeli airstrike targeted an apartment in the al-Qarara neighborhood, northwest of Gaza City, bringing about the deaths of a husband, wife, and their daughter. Three others sustained injuries in the same onslaught. In a separate Israeli assault, 69-year-old Muailiq and his 59-year-old wife were martyred when an Israeli chopper targeted their residence in central Gaza. Furthermore, al-Shifa Hospital administration said that three Palestinians residents of the al-Sousi Tower, which is near the port area, were martyred in an Israeli fire. The names and identities of all victims martyred in Israeli attacks were revealed.

13 Killed After Light Jet Plummeted in Peru

 August 02  - (The Global News Desk 115) - A light jet carrying tourists above the Nazca Lines in Peru plummeted to the ground, killing 13 passengers. Near Nazca, a city on Peru's southern coast known for its archeological and tourism attractions, the small light plane crashed in a deadly accident. Peruvian state TV said the aircraft had two pilots and 11 tourists when it plummeted. It had taken off from Pisco airport for a tourist trip over the Nazca Lines, which are ancient geoglyphs cut into the desert that are best viewed from above. But, a local news source reported that the plane lost communication with the control tower minutes after departure. The smoldering wreckage of what looked to be the little plane was visible in disturbing footage that was posted on social media.  

4 climbers died, 11 Missing Due to avalanche on Karakoram mountain range

August 01 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Four climbers' bodies have been retrieved and recovered from Broad Peak in Pakistan, local officials and rescue teams informed the public on Friday.  The prominent Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal Purja is among 10 climbers missing after an avalanche.  Ground and aerial emergency crews are actively searching the Karakoram mountain range for the ten remaining climbers, one of whom is an American, who are thought to have been on Broad Peak, which rises to 8,047 meters, when an avalanche happened around noon on Thursday. The Alpine Club Pakistan reported that the group had climbers from Oman, Pakistan, and Nepal, along with Purja and American Mallory Geis. Alpine Club officials have said that the GPS map shows where 4 climbers are buried.  Authorities said that the weather was clear on Friday morning and expected to remain so over the weekend.
