Seven Killed, 3 Trapped In Landslide Incident

August, 16 - (The Global News Desk 115) – The provincial government authorities informed the media on Friday that as many as 7 laborers were killed in a tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand province in the northern part of India. 

The rescue operation for 3 missing workers is still continuing, the provincial government said in a statement.

The landslide occurred at midnight, causing a rush of water and rubble into a tunnel under construction by Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC) in Pipalkoti.

The government officials reported that there were 22 workers in the tunnel when the disaster occurred.

The deadly incident took place in the Chamoli district. Wounded workers were transported to the hospital for speedy recovery. 

The provincial CM visited the site of the incident on Friday and examined the rescue team's efforts.

Train Collision In Spain: 39 Passengers Killed & 122 Injured

Córdoba, Spain -  At least 39 passengers were killed when two trains crashed in Córdoba at around 19:45 on Sunday.  Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, a southern region of Spain, and it is the provincial capital. According to official reports, out of 122 people who received medical care for their injuries, 48, including five children, are still in the hospital. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced three days of mourning and vowed to conduct a "thorough and absolutely transparent" investigation into the incident.  The high-speed train service between Madrid and Andalusia will be halted until at least Friday.  Local media reports that authorities have started up offices in numerous locations where victims' relatives may provide DNA samples to assist in the deceased's identification.
