August 07 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Police reported that on Friday, a boy shot and killed seven people, including his grandparents, at a school near Bangkok before taking his own life. The teen assailant killed teachers and staff members. According to the government, the 14-year-old shooter used a gun that was his grandfather's.  Classes at Debsirin Secondary were canceled from August 10 to August 14, and teachers were asked to work from home during that time.  After the heart-wrenching school tragedy that brought about several deaths, Thailand's prime minister vowed to introduce a bill that would make it difficult for people to carry guns.

July 13 - (The Global News Desk 115) —  At least 29 people lost their lives, and several others were injured in a terrible fire that broke out in a Bangkok pub late on Sunday night. Several black bags to carry dead bodies were found on the ground outside the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao restaurant and bar early on Monday, according to representatives from international media agencies.  A large number of emergency service personnel were also present at the scene. The fire quickly engulfed the bar, extending to the ceiling. Smoke was probably the main reason for the 29 fatalities and 60  injuries. As soon as authorities learned of the bar fire, numerous firefighters, law enforcement, and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.  The Prime Minister of Thailand reportedly informed reporters on the scene that 27 people had passed away and scores were shifted to the hospital, according to local media sources.  Due to serious burns, two of the injured later ...

A teenage boy struck a gathering of monks with his mini truck on Thursday while they were participating in a pilgrimage in northeastern Thailand. The expedition included 35 monks from Mukdahan province. At the scene, at least five monks were reported dead, and three additional monks later died from their injuries in a hospital, according to officials in Mukdahan.  The provincial authorities have confirmed that 13 more monks were hospitalized, three of whom are in a critical state. The police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but the monks informed them that they witnessed the truck swerve before it fell off the road and struck the group. The minor boy, aged 11 years, is currently in prison and will be interrogated, according to authorities. Buddhist monks hold a significant place in Thai society, with more than 90% of the population being followers of the religion.
