4 climbers died, 11 Missing Due to avalanche on Karakoram mountain range

August 01 - (The Global News Desk 115) - Four climbers' bodies have been retrieved and recovered from Broad Peak in Pakistan, local officials and rescue teams informed the public on Friday. 

The prominent Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal Purja is among 10 climbers missing after an avalanche. 

Ground and aerial emergency crews are actively searching the Karakoram mountain range for the ten remaining climbers, one of whom is an American, who are thought to have been on Broad Peak, which rises to 8,047 meters, when an avalanche happened around noon on Thursday.

The Alpine Club Pakistan reported that the group had climbers from Oman, Pakistan, and Nepal, along with Purja and American Mallory Geis.

Since the avalanche occurred, there has been no communication with the missing persons. Alpine Club officials have said that the GPS map shows where 4 climbers are buried. 

Authorities said that the weather was clear on Friday morning and expected to remain so over the weekend.

Train Collision In Spain: 39 Passengers Killed & 122 Injured

Córdoba, Spain -  At least 39 passengers were killed when two trains crashed in Córdoba at around 19:45 on Sunday.  Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, a southern region of Spain, and it is the provincial capital. According to official reports, out of 122 people who received medical care for their injuries, 48, including five children, are still in the hospital. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced three days of mourning and vowed to conduct a "thorough and absolutely transparent" investigation into the incident.  The high-speed train service between Madrid and Andalusia will be halted until at least Friday.  Local media reports that authorities have started up offices in numerous locations where victims' relatives may provide DNA samples to assist in the deceased's identification.
