July 31 - (The Global News Desk 115) - A passenger bus accident in Boumerdes province brought about the deaths of 25 people and injured 44 others, the Civil Protection Department reported on Friday. Boumerdes is located about 55 km east of Algiers, the capital city of Algeria. At 9:41 a.m. local time (0841 GMT), an accident happened on National Road No. 24 near the village of El Karma. The bus, which was on its way from Setif in the east, veered off the road, overturned, and dropped into a ravine, according to the department. The Civil Protection Department said it sent three rescue vehicles and eleven ambulances to the scene. Rescue teams continue to evacuate and provide medical help, transporting the injured to local hospitals.
