Kohat Blast: 21 Martyred Including 15 Policemen

September, 19 - (The Global News Desk 115) - A blast at a mosque in Kohat's Police Lines during Friday prayers martyred approximately 21 people, including 15 policemen and 6 civilians. 

KPK Police said that six of the attackers were also killed in both the explosion and the shootout that took place afterward.

The initial incident report submitted by the DHQ Hospital Kohat medical superintendent and district health officer revealed that the deadly blast caused more than 100 casualties among the worshippers. 

The local authorities claimed that a blast detonated at about 1:30 pm during Friday prayers at a mosque at Police Lines on Hangu Road in Kohat, backed by a terrorist attack carried out by at least five to seven armed men.

The officials' report named Dr Israel Khan Aurakzai, Chief District Specialist (Paediatrics) at Liaqat Memorial Hospital, Kohat, as one of the deceased.

Furthermore, the report revealed that 105 injured people were admitted to the two hospitals, with 13 receiving care at Liaqat Memorial Hospital and 90 at DHQ Hospital, Kohat.

The devastating blast left 73 policemen and 30 local citizens injured. 

The rest of the men who were hurt were sent to a nearby hospital for adequate treatment. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, all conveyed their deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives.

Train Collision In Spain: 39 Passengers Killed & 122 Injured

Córdoba, Spain -  At least 39 passengers were killed when two trains crashed in Córdoba at around 19:45 on Sunday.  Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, a southern region of Spain, and it is the provincial capital. According to official reports, out of 122 people who received medical care for their injuries, 48, including five children, are still in the hospital. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced three days of mourning and vowed to conduct a "thorough and absolutely transparent" investigation into the incident.  The high-speed train service between Madrid and Andalusia will be halted until at least Friday.  Local media reports that authorities have started up offices in numerous locations where victims' relatives may provide DNA samples to assist in the deceased's identification.
