5 equipped terrorists associated with an outlawed group were killed by police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a combined operation in the near bordering area of Attock in Punjab, Police officials said on Tuesday.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson said that when the crew reacted to the gunfire, all five of the accused terrorists were killed during the gunfight.
He said that firearms, explosives, and hand grenades were gathered from the site following the operation.
According to CTD officers, initial probes suggested that the executed terrorists were allegedly involved in terrorist activities in Punjab.
The operation was based on sensitive knowledge concerning their movements and strategies.
The spokesperson said that authorities have launched a more thorough search operation in Attock's border districts to locate any remaining suspects, accomplices, or facilitators who may have escaped during the raid.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the CTD on a successful operation against Fitna al Khawarij in Attock.
The authorities use the term Fitna al
Khawarij to describe terrorists linked with the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban
Pakistan.
