Maduro's Vice President Appointed as Interim President

The Vice President of Venezuela has been granted temporary presidential responsibilities by a Venezuelan constitutional authority.

The Supreme Constitutional Court of Venezuela has ordered Vice President Delcy Rodríguez to temporarily assume the presidency, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs recognizes Rodríguez as Venezuela's transitional president, replacing Nicolás Maduro, who is currently jailed in the US.

To form a united position on the US attacks on Venezuela, Latin American and Caribbean nations will hold a special summit, says the Brazilian Foreign Ministry.
