At least 43 civilians were killed and 52 injured after airstrikes
carried out by Myanmar's military junta targeted the village of Kyauk Ni Maw in
Ramree Town in the Rakhine state.
Kyauk Ni Maw, a mostly Muslim hamlet in Myanmar, was bombarded by
military junta warplanes on June 8, 2025.
Over 502 dwellings were torched by fires produced by the aircraft
bombardment, which also caused considerable damage and destruction to the
region. Locals claim that many of the deceased were women, children, and senior
citizens.
The Arakan Army (AA), an armed group based in Western Rakhine,
controls the targeted village.
The Arakan Army, commonly known as the Arakha Army, is an
ethno-nationalist armed group located in Rakhine State (Arakan). Founded in
April 2009, the AA is the military branch of the United League of Arakan (ULA).
The junta and the AA are fighting to control Rakhine, where the AA
has already taken large land areas in the past year.
