Uttarakhand, India - A bus carrying pilgrims crashed into a gorge in Uttarakhand on Sunday, killing 22 people.
The 28- passenger bus was en route to Yamunotri, an important pilgrimage site on a hill.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sympathy to those who had lost loved ones in the disaster.
Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees for each family of those who were killed in the crash and 50,000 rupees for each of those injured in the Uttarakhand bus crash.
"Under the supervision of the state administration, local governments are obligated to provide whatever support may be available on the ground," the prime minister's office tweeted.
