Germany- A train derailed near a famous mountainous tourist
destination in southern Germany on Friday, killing four people and injuring 30
others, authorities said.
A train with many students was en route to Munich when three
carriages derailed near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
A police spokesman said that 15 injured were sent to a
hospital.
At the time of the rail crash, there were 60 passengers on
board.
The mishap took place in Bavaria state. Police and State
prosecutors have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident,
Reuters reported.
There was no news about the victims' identities or whether the
driver was one of them.
The incident injured 60 people, according to a spokesman for the
district governor of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
According to the regional newspaper Munchener Merkur, the train
was carrying a large number of students.
Vast emergency operation is still
continuing, and all train lines are suspended, police said.
