The earthquake in Afghanistan has killed at least 950 people and injured hundreds more, Afghan authorities confirmed.
About 950 people have died and more than 1500 have been injured, a top disaster management official said during a news briefing.
Air ambulance service was activated in the eastern Paktika province to transport severely injured to hospitals.
According to Taliban leader Hibatullah Ahundzada, hundreds of homes have been destroyed and the death toll is expected to rise.
When the earthquake near the
host city occurred on Tuesday shortly after 1:30 a.m. local time, many people
were at home and sound sleeping in their beds.
