The first prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine has been announced by Russia
During their intense conflict, Russia and Ukraine are said to have swapped the first prisoners of war (POWs).
Tatyana Moskalkova, Russia's Human Rights Commissioner, told RT that nine Russian servicemen were exchanged for Ivan Fedorov, Mayor of the Ukrainian town of Melitopol.
Fedorov was reportedly apprehended on March 11 by Russian soldiers stationed in Melitopol, a city located halfway between Mariupol and Kherson.
Last Wednesday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Fedorov on the phone.
Russia has continued its special military operation in Ukraine, which began on February 24 to defend the Donbas people.
