KABUL, Afghanistan — A statement issued
by the Interior Ministry OF Afghanistan confirmed the death of Khost's Regional Police
Chief. Brigadier general Sayed Ahmad Babazi was killed in a roadside an
improvised explosive devices (IED) blast, yesterday night, at 11:15 p.m,
Afghanistan's local time. Sayed Ahmad Babazi WAS traveling to the Zinikhil
neighborhood of Nadir Shah Kot district for anti-insurgent operation when the
accident occurred. One of the bystanders said, "after hitting the roadside
explosive device (IED), the police vehicle went up in the air and burst into
flames, killing the police chief and two of his companions." The
emergency crew leaped into action after an emergency alarm to retrieve dead
bodies of victims from the wreckage of the vehicle. Taliban immediately claimed
the responsibility for the deadly roadside blast.
