Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso — As many as 35 people mostly women have reportedly been killed in the insurgents' deadliest onslaught of the year in Burkina Faso. The unknown armed group launched twin attacks on the military base and Arbinda civilians in Soum province of Burkina Faso, the army announced during the press briefing. The large column of violent jihadis riding on bikes launched the pre-dawn deadly assault on Wednesday that killed 35 civilians including 31 women. In the second attack at least 80 militants and 7 soldiers were killed when the insurgents' attack was repelled by Burkina Faso forces after hours of the death-dealing gunbattle. No claim of responsibility has yet been made for the gruesome attack by any militants group. Islamic State and Al-Qaeda affiliated groups are understood to have been behind the attack.
