KABUL, Afghanistan — On late Monday night, the Afghan government officials confirmed the collapse of the Qushtepah district to the Taliban Jihadists. Qushtepah district of northern Jawzjan province fell to anti-government forces after a heavy gun battle with the Afghan government forces, secretary for the provincial Council told the media on Monday night. Afghan government source further added that during the gunbattle about 50 government forces were killed and over 150 others surrendered to the Taliban militants after conceding defeat in the battleground. However, the statement issued by the Jihadists claimed that 35 Afghan soldiers were killed and wounded and around 80 were captured alive in battle for the Qushtepah district.
