Floods In Afghanistan: 23 Dead & Dozens Missing

The National Disaster Management Authority announced on 21 July that around 23 people have been confirmed dead after flash floods that ravaged the eastern province of Nuristan in Afghanistan.

Initial reports from the officials say that more than 100 people are missing, 15 bodies have been found, and around 80 people have been wounded.

Rescue operations are ongoing in Parun, the capital of Nuristan Province, as well as in other areas affected by flooding.

Analysts believe the climate crisis is behind the rise in extreme weather events such as flash floods and droughts in Afghanistan.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza says that Israeli forces have martyred 70 Palestinians in just the past day. Since Israel's war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry reported 61,897 deaths and 155,660 injuries. Since March 18, Israel has broken the previous ceasefire , completely blocked aid, and launched devastating airstrikes, resulting in at least 10,362 Palestinian deaths and 43,619 injuries, according to the ministry.

Train Collision In Spain: 39 Passengers Killed & 122 Injured

Córdoba, Spain - At least 39 passengers were killed when two trains crashed in Córdoba at around 19:45 on Sunday. Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, a southern region of Spain, and it is the provincial capital. According to official reports, out of 122 people who received medical care for their injuries, 48, including five children, are still in the hospital. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced three days of mourning and vowed to conduct a "thorough and absolutely transparent" investigation into the incident. The high-speed train service between Madrid and Andalusia will be halted until at least Friday. Local media reports that authorities have started up offices in numerous locations where victims' relatives may provide DNA samples to assist in the deceased's identification.
