A technical malfunction led to the crash of a
Pakistan Army Aviation Mi-17 helicopter shortly after takeoff near
Muzaffarabad, as reported by ISPR.
All 21 military personnel, including Colonel Amjad Latif and Major Hafiz Majid, on board, were martyred after the helicopter crashed soon
after takeoff.
Rescue squads were quickly dispatched to the
crash location and started their operations to recover the wreckage and the
victims' bodies, as reported by the military media wing.
A board of investigation has been established
by the Pakistan Army to determine the exact technical cause of the accident.
To determine factors leading to the terrible
mishap, investigators will investigate every aspect of the event.
Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff
(COAS), President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed
their heartfelt grief and sorrow regarding the helicopter crash, extending
their sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyrs during
this difficult time.
