6 Pakistanis among 8 peacekeepers killed in Congo helicopter crash

A helicopter crashed in the chaotic eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Tuesday, killing eight UN soldiers — six Pakistanis, a Russian, and a Serb, according to the UN and Pakistan." 

Puma Helicopter crashed while on a covert mission in Congo." 

"The accurate cause of the crash is still to be determined," the Pakistani military's media wing said. Six Pakistani troops were among those killed, according to the report. 

Imran Khan, Pakistan's prime minister, voiced his "profound sense of disappointment and grief," according to his office, praising the country's armed services for their global peace efforts. 

The M23 rebel group "shot down" the helicopter, according to Congolese military authorities in North Kivu. 

The six Pakistani martyred officers and soldiers were identified as Lt Col Asif Ali Awan, the pilot, Maj Saad Nomani, the co-pilot, Maj Faizan Ali, naib subedar Samiullak Khan, the flight engineer, havaldar Muhammad Ismail, the crew chief, and lance havaldar Muhamad Jamil, the gunner.

Train Collision In Spain: 39 Passengers Killed & 122 Injured

Córdoba, Spain -  At least 39 passengers were killed when two trains crashed in Córdoba at around 19:45 on Sunday.  Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, a southern region of Spain, and it is the provincial capital. According to official reports, out of 122 people who received medical care for their injuries, 48, including five children, are still in the hospital. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced three days of mourning and vowed to conduct a "thorough and absolutely transparent" investigation into the incident.  The high-speed train service between Madrid and Andalusia will be halted until at least Friday.  Local media reports that authorities have started up offices in numerous locations where victims' relatives may provide DNA samples to assist in the deceased's identification.

Pakistani President, Mr Asif Ali Zardari, Begins 4-day Iraq Visit

BAGHDAD, Iraq  —   President Asif Ali Zardari rolled into Baghdad on Saturday for an official visit all about boosting trade ties. President Zardari aims to strengthen relations with Baghdad following years of limited interaction.    "President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Baghdad for a four-day official visit to Iraq," his office announced on social media.   Culture Minister Dr. Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani warmly welcomed him.
