Turkey Keeps Continuing Violating Syria's Territorial Sovereignty

DAMASUS, Syria — According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights report Turkey has sent more than 50 vehicles to Syria by Kafr Lusin border crossing in the north of Idlib. The number of Turkish battle tanks, trucks, anti-mine automobiles, and other vehicles sent to Syria via Kafr Lusin border has reached 4,300. Turkey has also augmented its forces' strength in Syria by adding 2,000 more troops. The total number of Turkish special forces dispatched to Syria since 2nd February 2020 has exceded to 9,250. It is not a first-time that the Turkish military has violated Syrian territorial sovereignty. Turkey made direct involvement in the Syrian conflict on August 24, 2016, when it moved military battalion along with squadrons and armored vehicles to Syria under the pretext of Operation Euphrates Shield. In fact, politically and militarily Turkey had been involved in the Syrian conflict since the outbreak of the uprising started in 2011. In April 2017, Syria’s ambassador to Russia blamed Turkey for violating the sovereignty and integrity of the independent country. During the press briefing, he said ''Turkey has grabbed the fertile land of Jandaris town of Afrin district by force''.Jandaris is located on the Afrin River, 68.4 kilometers (42.5 mi) northwest by road from Aleppo and 20.9 kilometers (13.0 mi) southwest of Afrin. He further added, during Operation Euphrates Shield Turkey had invaded the Qirbat and Atma districts in Idlib province and killed a large number of innocent civilians. On the other hand, Turkish authorities are justifying the invasion of Syria and attacks on Kurds forces as self-defense and an act of veneration.
