Hydropower Tunnel Blast Kills 12 In Sikkim

An explosion brought about a section of a tunnel under construction at a hydropower project in Sikkim, a northeastern Himalayan state in India, to collapse, resulting in 14 fatalities and 11 workers reported missing, according to officials on Tuesday. Rescue teams, utilizing oxygen apparatus, rushed to find survivors on Tuesday following the detection of toxic gas levels at the disaster site in Samardung village, adjacent to the Chinese border. A blast devastated the tunnel on Monday, with 21 laborers inside working on the 500-megawatt Teesta hydroelectric project, officials said. Pakistan: Torrential rain wrought havoc in KPK

The Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, heavy monsoon rains have led to 12 deaths and 18 injuries within a span of three days. The PDMA, Rescue 1122, and additional agencies continued their efforts in rescue and response; district administrations were ordered to speed up relief operations and extend immediate help to families that were impacted. Floods In Afghanistan: 23 Dead & Dozens Missing

The National Disaster Management Authority announced on 21 July that around 23 people have been confirmed dead after flash floods that ravaged the eastern province of Nuristan in Afghanistan. Initial reports from the officials say that more than 100 people are missing, 15 bodies have been found, and around 80 people have been wounded. Rescue operations are ongoing in Parun, the capital of Nuristan Province, as well as in other areas affected by flooding. Analysts believe the climate crisis is behind the rise in extreme weather events such as flash floods and droughts in Afghanistan.

Vietnam: Bus Crash Kills 7, Injures 5

The 24-bed bus deviated and crashed   into a roadside barrier  at around 2:30 a.m., according to local police, while traveling through Hung Thinh Commune, more than 18 miles from Bien Hoa City, the capital of Dong Nai. 7 people were killed and 5 injured when a sleeper bus caught fire early on Monday morning while traveling through Dong Nai City on National Highway 1. The entire vehicle was rapidly consumed by an inferno that burst from below the bus. Thanh Hai, the bus driver, shouted for the passengers to flee, but the fire spread too fast for many to get out of the badly damaged bus in time. Two fire brigades and Rescue Police responded instantly, sending emergency personnel. After approximately thirty minutes, emergency workers were able to put the blaze under control.
