Inflation rate in Canada reached 6.8%.in April

Food and accommodation prices climb in Canada Canada, Ottawa - Consumer prices in Canada rose 6.8 percent in April, slightly up from 6.7 percent in March, according to Statistics Canada last month. Food and property prices accounted for most of April's increase. The National Statistics Office said gas prices rose more slowly in April than in March, slowing the acceleration of the consumer price index (CPI) for all items in April. CPI climbed 5.8% in April, excluding gasoline, after gaining 5.5 percent in March.  This was the fastest growth since the all-items excluding gasoline special aggregate was introduced in 1999. A strong employment rate, as unemployment fell to a fresh low in April, tends to put upward pressure on prices. Average hourly wages for white-collar workers rose 3.3% in April, according to Statistics Canada, indicating that prices are rising faster than average wages, resulting in a loss of purchasing power for Canadians."There is no relief in sight for Canadi

US Marine aircraft crash: 4 killed & one disappeared

America, Washinton Dc - A military official said Thursday that 4 Marines were killed and one missing after an Osprey plane crashed in the Southern California desert. The official said on condition of anonymity as the investigation continued. Further details are not available. The MV-22B Osprey was carrying five Marines when it crashed at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday during the training in Imperial County near Glamis, about 185 km east of San Diego. The MV-22B is a twin-engine self-adjusting aircraft that can fly like a turboprop while taking off and landing like a helicopter. The aircraft version is operated by the Marines, Navy, and Air Force. Before Wednesday's crash, the Osprey crash claimed 46 lives, the Los Angeles Times reported.

South Korea: Seven killed In a Suspected Attack on district court

South Korea - A massive explosion in an office building near the city's district court building early Thursday killed seven people and injured 46.  The incident took place in the South Korean city of Daegu.  The boom rattled buildings several kilometers distant, according to eyewitnesses. The cause of the attack is still being investigated, but police suspect it was an arson attack. Officials said the suspect, a man in his 50s, died on the spot. At approximately 10:55 a.m. local time, more than 150 firefighters were dispatched to the building after the fire broke out (1:55 GMT), according to the BBC, the firefighter team  extinguished the fire in 20 minutes. All of the victims were taken to the hospital immediately.

22 Feared Dead After Train Derails In Iran

Iran, Tehran - At least 22 people were killed and 100 more were injured when a train derailed in eastern Iran, state media reported.  The train, which was carrying about 350 passengers, derailed about 50 km from Tabas on the Mashhad-Yazd link.  The train collided with an excavator along the tracks, according to the deputy head of Iran's railways.  With many of the injured in critical condition, emergency services fear the death toll could rise, BBC said.  Mehdi Valipur of the Iranian Red Crescent informed state television that five of the 11 carriages had derailed.  As per Moitaba Khaled, a spokesman for the national emergency services, three helicopters, and 24 ambulances were dispatched to the scene following the incident, which occurred around 05:30 local time (01:00 GMT).  According to official information, the cause of the deadly train derailment in the northeast of the country on Wednesday morning was the human error of an excavator driver.  Mohammad Hassan Esmaili, Chairman

An experimental cancer drug proved a 100 percent success rate in a small study trial on patients with rectal cancer conducted by doctors at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. A group of 18 anal cancer patients showed no signs of a tumor after taking antibody drugs for six months, according to surprising findings from an ongoing medical study in the United States.  However apart from their tumors completely disappearing, none of the participants experienced any severe side effects, according to a recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The patient underwent a series of tests including a physical examination, endoscopy, cinema, PET scan, and MRI scan, but none of the results showed a tumor.  "All 18 patients had a complete clinical response with no signs of magnetic resonance imaging," the researchers write.  "To measure the length of reaction, a longer follow-up is required," they stressed.  The researchers seek to see if Do

Joe Biden to visit Europe for G7, NATO summits

The USA - According to White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre, US President Joe Biden will travel to Germany for the G7 summit in late June and then to Spain for the NATO summit.  Biden will attend the  G-7 summit on June 25 in Schloss Elmau in southern Germany, where leaders will discuss the war in Ukraine and the food and energy crisis, Reuters reported.  Allies are expected to focus on NATO's "modification over the next decade" at the NATO meeting in Madrid on June 28, according to the statement.
