According to CCTV, the devastating earthquake that struck
China's remote Tibet region at approximately 9:00 AM on Tuesday has claimed the
lives of at least 126 people.
The Xigaze city or Shigatse city government said that more than 29,000 families
have been moved and 407 people stuck have been rescued after an initial
assessment revealed that more than 3,600 houses had collapsed.
The earthquake's 6.8-magnitude tremors affected adjacent
countries, India and Nepal.
China's state network CCTV displayed images and photographs of the
enormous destruction caused by the quake, including walls being ripped apart,
houses being reduced to rubble, and debris being spread all over the ruins.
