The head of the provincial traffic police confirmed on Tuesday that eight people were killed and two others were injured in a Datsun pickup and car collision in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province.
The two vehicles collided on the ring road in the provincial capital of Jalalabad on Monday evening, police said.
Jalalabad is Afghanistan's fifth-largest city. According to the official, the victims included four women, a child, and three men, including the drivers of the vehicles.
Traffic accidents are common in a mountainous country, and they are caused by reckless driving or poor roads and vehicle maintenance.
