In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Atmar stated that the Afghan
government is willing to make peace with the Taliban if they meet certain
requirements. Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the foreign minister of Afghanistan,
announced that government is ready for peace and power-sharing with the
Taliban,."We are ready for the Taliban to cooperate, we are ready to take
them to the administration, we are ready to share peace and power with the
Taliban, "He said. Atmar further added, "The future of this
country is determined by the freedom of the Afghan people. There should be no threat to Afghanistan, and there should be no foreign insurgents on its soil."He stated that the Afghan government is willing to accept
the Taliban as a member of its organization as long as the group does not
support terrorism.
